Considered by many as the birth place of safaris, modern Kenya has a lot to offer. From pristine beaches to sprawling cities, from 5 star restaurants and incredible night clubs to forested mountains and open plains teaming with wildlife, you’re guaranteed a bucket list experience. Here are my top holiday destinations in Kenya.

  • MOMBASA:SANDY SHORES

The second largest city in Kenya boasts of picturesque white sandy beaches, historical architure, and a blend of different cultures and cuisines. The Kenyan coastline offers numerous adventures to embark on. From Mombasa, you can visit the luxurious Diani beach in Kwale County for snorkeling, dhow sailing, and dolphin watching, as well as explore amazing marine parks and enjoy water sports for the adrenaline seekers.

  • NAIROBI: EAST AFRICA’S HUB

Best known as the “city under the sun,” Nairobi is the only city in the world with a national park only 7km from its central business district. Nairobi national park is one of the most rewarding trips for visitor, offering safaris with amazing cityscape views. The city had numerous places to visit, including museums, national park, 5 star restaurants, camping sites, nature trails, a thriving night life and cultural markets. The giraffe Centre and manor are highly recommended. Nairobi also serves as the logistics and transport hub for Kenya and east Africa. Its amazing people make it a gem in this part of the world.

  • RIFT VALLEY:MAGICAL KENYA

Made up of magnificent lakes, mountains, and valleys, the Kenyan rift valley is an explorer’s dream come true. Home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, its lakes like Nakuru, Bogoria, and Elementaita form a system that houses thirteen globally threatened species of birds and has one of the most diverse populations of birds in the world. With a number of national parks as Hell’s Gate and a variety of active and dormant volcanoes like Mount Longonot and Menegai, along with many tribes with beautiful cultures, the rift valley system is a highly recommended holiday destination for nature lovers.

  • AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK:MAGISAL SAFARI

A snow- capped Mt.Kilimanjaro, the world’s highest free-standing mountain, looming over a herd of the biggest elephants in the world striding across large green scenic plains- that’s what Ambolseli is. This swampy ground, feed by mountain runoff, offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From Safari style tents to luxury accommodations, you’re guaranteed a great holiday.

  • MASAI MARA:WORLD WONDER

Part of the Masai Mara-Serengeti ecosystem, it is home to the great wildebeest migration. An annual phenomenon where more than 1.5 million wildebeest migrate across Kenya and Tanzania during the rainy season. If you’re looking for luxurious experiences next to amazing game viewing, look no further. Flying in a hot air balloon will give you spectacular views of the wildlife. You can also visit the world-famous Masai people, as this amazing place is where they have lived for centuries.

  • MT KENYA:GODS RESTING PLACE

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mt Kenya is situated at an altitude of 5,199 meters. It’s a magnificent place that conserves a lot of endangered wildlife. For the thrill-seekers, and campers, its forest trails are adorned with waterfalls and unbelievable natural scenes. The Bantu communities living around the mountain and its forests are some of the most welcoming people this country has to offer.
